The business of Food

Wednesday March 1st was a short day but I learned a lot about Whôle Foods Market.
We began the day at 8 in the morning. It was professor Mc carthy who did this excursion with us. So we took the subway to go to Whôle Foods Market. When we arrived we met a manager Rich Howley. This manager explained us a lot of thing about the grocery. 
The store is really well organized. You have very different places: vegetables, fruits, meals, wines, flowers… So you can find easily what you are looking for. 
Then they are very serious about their products. They want to know where the product come from and how they are treat. I was really impressed by their interest of the product. When you buy your food in this grocery you can be sure of what you eat because all their foods are organic. 

Moreover they have a special design for their shops. They went all around the world to find how they can do something comfortable. The store has a lot of colors and different places where you can eat like sushi, pasta, pizza or salad. 

The American’s people buy a lot of eggs, milk, and water. So this products are cheaper than the other. Therefore this products are put in a special place: at the end of the store because the customers have to look to all the other products before arrive at this place. Furthermore they don’t have the same policy than Mariano for example. In this others groceries you have to pay to put your products in the best place but in Whôle Foods Market the buyers don’t have to pay. They have to negotiate with the manager and most of the time the product change of place every month. I spoke with two wines’ buyers and they explained to me that it is really important to have a good place because your product can be sold easier. 

After the presentation of the store we had a lunch. So we could choose what we want to eat. During this lunch we had a special guest speaker who spoke to us about the fitness. His work is to help the people to do some sport and eat well. 
I really appreciate the catering because you can choose your food and it is not really expensive. But they really want to help their customer. For example you can buy some meat and they can cook for you. I really enjoyed the color and the disposition of the store. It is a nice place to buy food. When I was in this store I would like to buy everything specially the vegetables they look so fresh.
