Art and Architecture According to David, by David Bilongo

Art and Architecture according to David

This day began at 9:00 am in the lobby of Buckingham with the teacher Ms. Beck and others students. As a serious student I was their at time but it`s not the case of all students and we had to wait until 9:15.After the briefing where she gave us the schedule of our day and some principles very useful important for our excursion for instance the networking. We go to our first appointment in the gallery of Colombia College Averill and Bernard Levitan A+D Gallery This place was very strange, very contrasting. All was white except the back of the place where we could see 2 overhead retro projectors, which were projecting different lights on the wall in order to emphasize the shadow. Then it was followed by the testimony of a German artist Petra Bachmeier. She has a big experience with a big background: she comes from the Hamburg Academic; follow by studies in Holland which allow her to be at Chicago. She was very focused on the networking especially externally for instance when a client order a project she wants to develop a in order dialogue in order to feel the client involved and that can take many times. As for as internally it`s easier for her because she work with a few team but she keeps having a motto book.

After a lunch in a French restaurant, near Pitsfield Building build in 1927,where we can see that Chicago it`s a city which likes ceilings. That we could see again with a former public library, the Chicago Cultural Center the next step of our day on the ceiling beautiful mosaics. On the floor above, Preston Bradley Hall; we could see a tremendous dome with many stained-glass windows like a church but especially writings in several old languages: Greek, Latin, Hebrew and hieroglyph. With this I had feelings to be in ancient times but at the same time I could see trough a big plate glass modern buildings, a metallic structure Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Bean. In keeping discovering the place, we had the chance to see an exhibition of an African painter enough contemporary Archibald Motley. With a sound of jazz we had the feeling to go back to the deep of United States and I was stopped painting where the life of Paris was described. Because he spent one year in Paris where he could paint the life of Bohemian. As Josephine Baker he could take advantage of the fascination of French people for black culture.

In the hall we met or second guest speaker, Dc Crenshawn a former player of football who is a friend of the president because he helped him. Actually he is the CEO of Fete an Internet based television that show different restaurant around the world. He gave us the key to manage the network firstly externally: Don`t hesitate to talk to people and keep this relationship by giving business cards and exchange mails. Secondly internally: work with people who can give you an inspiration.

Then we had the chance to visit a beautiful apartment of 1.5 millions dollars located front of Michigan Avenue and to listen Marie Valander; an experimented broker. Trough her speech we understand that you can improve your networking by wondering yourself how you can help someone and for the internal part it`s easier to work when you consider your fellow-worker as friend.
