THE GOLD COAST DAY, by Regina Nevzorova

THE GOLD COAST DAY

Our last excursion was the most impressive and memorable for me. First we went to lunch In Water Tower restaurant area with a large choice of different cuisines. In this restaurant area you can choose probably all kind of foods for all tastes. During our lunch we had a possibility to talk with Janet Kirket who is an executive Chef of Food Ease market. She told us such a little girls she dreamed about became a Chef in cuisine, so is a pleasure that dreams became truth. Water Tower place is very important in Chicago, there is so many offices, shops and interesting areas around, so Foods market need to response for all demands from clients.

I’m sure this it should be difficult to maintain so much kitchens, and realize so many recipes but it is the key of success. They need to find the way to satisfied all the clients and give a possibility to the people who eats there every day, to eat a healthy food and keep the prices acceptable. It was the most large restaurant area I had never seen before in the commercial centers! It was impressive.

After that we went to The Drake Hotel, and we had meet Shaun, the manager. Shaun is in charge of e food in all events which happened in the Drake Hotel. Today the “aperives” and “bouchees” is a part of all events, so he is in touch with every events witch goings around in the Drake hotel.  Inside of the Drake hotel is impressive! All the decoration are sophisticated and luxurious! We had a possibility to visit popular place to wending in Chicago – THE GOLD COAST ROOM. It was amazing! It looks like a Disney princess wending castle! All the colors and decorations, marble floors and huge mirrors make you feel inside the fairytale! It is important to say that the price is impressive too ;) 80.000 dollars at least without the additional fees. That is the price for a details ;) Details it is so important for the big and also small businesses. Send the anniversary cards, call your clients by name, and be attentional for the guest request make your business grow up and created a regulars clients.
After that we went to the Belgium bakery for taste the best croissants in Chicago. The owners of this bakery are originally from Belgium, and they open this business demonstrate some of the specials traditions of Europe but with some changes for American culture. They make the croissants, desserts and bread, but they adapted their business for the Americans customers. Right now their menu included salads, sandwiches etc. They make their clients feel unique and special. They adapt new concepts, create a new flavors and make their best to satisfy a client.

I learned from this visits that you need to adapt your idea, your business, and your plans in functions of others. Flexibility is one of the key of success in the market. Everyone has different needs, desires, aspirations, values and expectations. That’s why build a relationship with the clients or other business is very important. When you are focus on managing relationships, you are in an incredibly powerful position get the best out of your staff, get ahead of your competition in serving the needs of your customer and gain the cooperation you need from all stakeholders to achieve tour business goal.

P.S. In the end of the day we went to walk around the prettiest neighborhood called The Gold coast. All the houses around looks like a pictures of American dream. Yu can rally imagine yourself to live inside of one of that houses.

Yes, ultimately business can be seen as building relationships. That's what our American Business course themes of networking, volunteering, and mentoring are all about.

I'm happy you found the day memorable, and loved Chicago's beautiful Gold Coast neighborhood!
