Life is a long journey, sometimes everything seems good and beautiful but sometimes life is hard and brings you down. What is important to remember is to always stay positive; in every issue we can find a solution. I can say this last sentence was the motto of this excursion.
We visited an incredible business “Sweet Beginnings” who helps people about social difficulties in Chicago. It is located in a poor neighborhood in Chicago. We could see people who live there need help. It was like nobodies care about this neighborhood. It is another face of the town of Chicago.
The business was created in 2004 as a social support for people who want to have a job after spending times in jail. It is like a second chance for them. “Sweet Beginnings” purpose honey product based on natural honey created by their self. All the products are sold under the brand “beelove” through different points of sale such as international airport. This enterprise have 3 missions, the first one is a social mission; provide support jobs and help people for a successful transition. The second one is economic; provide jobs. The last one is about product, they try to do their best and create the best quality.
During the second part of our day we met Johnny Imerman. After unfortunately be diagnosed sick (cancer) he create an association Imerman Angels in order to connect cancer fighters and survivors for give them a support. His association helps people all around the world thank is networking.
Both of this appointment showed us about volunteering, they try to do their best to help people succeed, and give them support in order to feel good. They are like mentor who advise and connect people. I think volunteering is one of the most powerful words to describe theses businesses. Both give their time to support a cause they care about.

ReplyDeleteAs you said "Life is a long journey", and even if life is tough, we have to be positive, and to believe in future. This day was awesome, because people of this town, even if they are poor, they are so kind and wanted to share with us.
Jonny Imerman is a model for us, the fact that he has survived of a cancer, it is just incredible, because how people have passed out due to cancer, a lot. He is a icon of hopeful, isn't he ?
People don't have to give up, they have to fight for their dreams.

We have one life and sometimes we must make choice, we must work hard for have a better life and make sacrifice.
But the redemption is very hard to understand by the community and that's why Sweet Beginning exist. Do you thing the mentality about people who get out prison will be change? And if you have your own company do you hire this people? Will you help them?
