Hospitality, by Adam Bensadok

Hospitality

The day began with a lunch at the Water Tower Place. It was not my first time in this building. However, with Ms. Beck is always different. I chose to eat at M burger but there is also Chinese restaurant, Italian. During the lunch, we met a chief. She told her history and explained the networking is very important to create a relationship.

The second step of this day was at the Drake Hotel. It’s a luxury hotel of Chicago. He built in 1920 by John B. Drake and Tracy Corey Drake. He was considered the most luxurious hotel of Chicago.o.

We met Shaun Rajah. He was very nice and he shared his experience. He is a Senior Catering Sales manger in the Drake Hotel and also he works in the event of the Drake Manager. We had visited the Gold Coast and the club international. He told us that there is 2 students of Kendall who works for the Drake Hotel.

He explained that the mentoring is very important in this job. We can learn many things with the mentoring. We are lucky meeting the chief of the Drake Hotel. Herve Cuyeu. He explained that it’s very important to work for something that we love. For example, the culinary is very difficult. He works 80 hours by week. It’s difficult to have a family. The networking can able to improve relationship and discover other area. He explained that he prefers Chicago because there is 4 seasons contrary to Miami.

The last step was a Belgian pastry shop. The croissant and macarons was wonderful and she explained before to come to Chicago, she wen to Nassau in Bahamas. She hopes to open a second bakery in few months. But, it’s already many work with one bakery. To conclude, I would like to thank Ms. Beck. We have improved our relationship. She was like a mentor for me. She is wonderful and so nice. I have only one thing to say to you

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  1. Adam, you are very welcome! I'm absolutely thrilled that you enjoyed the excursions and found so much inspiration in them.

You did an excellent job in your blog post showing the research that you completed, and describing our visits with the chefs.

Remember to address all of the questions for the post; for example, how do the business people we met on Hospitality day make customers feel special?

You added lovely photos and links, to give beauty and vibrancy to your post.

    Onward and upward!

  2. Hello Adam !

I agree with you , it was really beneficial for us to meet Shaun Rajah. We learned a lot about the history of the Drake Hotel. He also gave us great advises about mentoring.
As we learned previously, it’s really important to find a mentor.
In my point of view, it’s efficient for us to find a mentor who has more experience in business or more broadly in life. This person has the ability to motivate us, and to provide us a business strategy which fit with our personality.
